1. Пустить лису в курятник

put the cat among the pigeons
To describe a disturbance caused by an undesirable person from the perspective of a group.
Example:
Взяв на работу Макса, наш босс и не подозревал, что пустил лису в курятник.

By hiring Max, our boss had no idea that he put the cat among the pigeons.

a pig in a poke
Is a thing that is bought without first being inspected, and thus of unknown authenticity or quality.
Example:
Я не хочу покупать одежду онлайн, так как это кот в мешке. — I don’t want to buy clothes online because
it’s a pig in a poke.

3. Как с гуся вода

like water off a duck’s back
To emphasize that it is not having any effect on the person being criticized.
Example:
Ему несколько раз объясняли тему, а для него все как с гуся вода. — They told him several times and
explained the topic, but for him everything was like water off a duck’s back.
